During excavation work in the former cloister a large number of graves were discovered. The cloister was the typical burial spot within the Diocese grounds. Primarily it was the Augustinian canons themselves who were laid to rest here. Examinations of the graves show that all of the dead were buried in coffins. The coffin-nails were found generally still intact. In the Christian middle-ages, it was no longer common practice to bury the dead with items or "grave goods". A wax-seal found in one of the graves marks therefore that a great exception was made. The seal belonged to a high-ranking Cleric from the 13th Century - his name was Johannes.
